Systems analysis of the bistable transfer competence pathway of a prokaryotic integrative and conjugative element
The major aim of my project is to obtain a systems level understanding of the bistable transfer competence (tc) pathway of the integrative and conjugative element ICEclc in Pseudomonas knackmussii and Pseudomonas putida. In particular, my goal is to understand the switch that generates bistability and the network configuration that mediates bistability maintenance and robustness. I focus on the mathematical conditions that result in bistability and try to predict from there the biological players. I also build deterministic and stochastic models for other projects in the lab, such as chemotaxis and colony growth.
